Turf Out Your Cockroaches With These Safe and Effective Steps
Of all the pests you could find yourself having to deal with, surely cockroaches are among the most dreaded?
Even the very thought of them is enough to send shivers down the spine of grown adults. But, repulsive though they may be, discovering cockroaches in your household does not have to spell the end of domestic comfort. With the right information and equipment, it is often possible to shift the unwelcome creatures without even calling in the professionals.
First of all, do what you can to prevent the infestation before it starts. Seal up all entry points as far as possible. This might mean closing off gaps around doors and windows, and filling in any space around pipes for water and other utilities.
Another strand to prevention is making sure there is no welcoming stash of food for cockroaches that do make it into your abode. Keep a clean house, removing any scraps – even crumbs – that are lying around, and avoiding leaving dirty dishes in the sink for any length of time.
Once cockroaches have found a reason to invade, and have discovered a way in, your challenge is send them packing. You have a number of options for doing so.
One possibility is using traps. Bait for the ‘roaches is inserted into some form of container and once the pests are stuck inside, they are easy prey to dispose of.
Of course, poisons are often used to deal with pest problems, and you can certainly choose to go down this route to address your cockroach dilemma. This would certainly have dramatic results.
But, bear in mind that if you introduce serious toxins into your home, you are exposed to them, too, to a degree. And it may be the case that repeated applications are required.
One healthier and more environmentally friendly option would be to try boric acid, a much safer substance that has delivered good results in cockroach control over many years.
